Messier 20 (NGC 6514) Trifid Nebula
(Messier 20, NGC 6514), also known as the Trifid Nebula, located in the constellation Sagittarius, is one of the objects, I imaged several times during the years.
As a member of the VdS remote observatory group, I have the opportunity to use the VdS remote observatory in Hakos, Namibia. You are allowed to process your own data obtained there as well as the data of other users. In 2024 I processed data of this object, originally taken by Johannes Teupen and Sven Junge as observer.
The data calibration, registration and final processing was done with PixIsight. The result is shown below:

There are also some asteroids visible in the image:
- (6116) Still with magv=17.02
- (9463) Criscione with magv=18.13
- (11848) Paullouka with magv=18.75
- (19114) 1981 EP37 with magv=19.09
- (94154) 2001 AM8 with magv=19.10
The images were taken with the following equipment:
- Location: Hakos, Namibia
- Telescope: TS 12“ Newton-Astrograph
- Focal length [mm]: 1391
- Focal ratio: 4.56
- Mount: 10Micron GM3000
- Camera: Lacerta DeepSkyPro2600 (mono)
- Filter: L:R:G:B
- Exposure time [min]: 27:27:27:21
- Resolution: 0.56″/px
In 2023 I obtained a data set of Messier 20 from one of my favorite providers, Telescope Live, with telescopes in e.g. Chile, Australia and Spain.
Data calibration and registration and the final processing was done with PixInsight. The result was as follows:

The images were taken with the following equipment (Telescope Live CHI-1):

- Focal length [mm]: 3900
- Focal ratio: 6.5
- Mount: Mathis MI-1000/1250
- Camera: QHY 600M Pro
- Filter: Hα:[OIII][SII]
- Exposure time [min]: 30:20:30
- Resolution: 0.39″/px (bin 2)
During a stay at the astrofarm Tivoli 2008, I took some images of M 20 and the open cluster Messier 21. Data Calibration and image regisration was done with DeepSkyStacker, the final processing was done with PixInsight.
The result was as follows:
