Messier 44 (NGC 2632) from my backyard and remote
Messier 44 (NGC 2632), also known as the Beehive Cluster or Praesepe, is a large and prominent open cluster located in the constellation Cancer. Easily visible to the naked eye under dark skies, it forms a striking swarm of stars that has fascinated observers since ancient times.
I have imaged this object twice — first in 2007 from my backyard, and later in 2023, when I obtained a remote dataset from Telescope Live, one of my favorite imaging providers with observatories located in Chile, Australia, and Spain. This newer dataset offered much deeper exposures and finer resolution, providing a great opportunity to revisit and reprocess this familiar target.
The data calibration, registration, and final image processing were all performed in PixInsight.

As you can see, there a very many galaxies in the image. There were so many quasars in the image (more than 1500) that they could not be displayed at all. Some have redshifts of over 3z.

This image contains also many asteroids. Below is a list with names and magnitudes.
